As summer approaches and the likelihood of rain on a wedding day becomes a distant thought, the idea of having a wedding reception outdoors becomes more appealing. I have put my thinking cap on and pulled together some ideas that take in a range of tastes and budgets.
Being a Fremantle local, Moore & Moore is a definite favourite of mine. Gorgeous courtyard capable of holding a ceremony as well as a beautiful setting for the start of the reception. There is a curfew for the outside courtyard that comes into place around 8.30pm and at this time guests can move to the front rooms to continue the party. Moore & Moore have one of the best cocktail food menus I have tasted and is in the heart of Fremantle so portrait locations are just around the corner so there is no need to leave guests for too long for photos. This 18th century house can give you a range of options for designing your wedding day. In the heat of summer, weddings can be held later in the afternoon in the front garden or the Rose Garden. While you head off for photos around Perth CBD, guests can mingle during canapé hour before you return for a reception either out the front with a long table like Jane & Adam chose to do in early 2014 or in the back courtyard where twinkling lights are strung above you. You can go for a classic wedding look with white folding chairs or a more rustic look with wooden mismatched chairs, vintage rugs, leather chairs and old suitcases and wine barrels for side tables.
With a riverside location and views of Swan Valley vines, this quirky little cafe set next to the historical Woodbridge house, also has a couple of options for a ceremony leading into the reception. Ceremonies can be held on in front of the big tree over looking the river or to the side of Woodbridge house. Riverside would definitely appeal to couples looking for a more rustic themed wedding reception and the cocktail food menu is absolutely delicious!
It takes a lot of work to pull together a backyard wedding, but it is definitely worth it! This way you can design your own wedding around a blank canvas, styling it whatever way you wish or bring in one of the amazing stylists we have in Perth to help you create the wedding of your dreams with a classic, rustic, vintage or modern. String up fairy lights or hang lanterns in the trees, mix match furniture or throw some colourful outdoor beanbags around for a summer beach feel.
