FAQs

How long before the wedding should I book the photographer?  To avoid disappointment at least 6 – 12 months in advance.  But you can check the availability calendar to see if I am available for your day!

How much time do you need for photos?    The signature package is for 6 hours.  Every wedding is different and unique so you can use this time how you want.  Just so you know a typical wedding plan for the signature package is:

Bride’s house: 90 mins before leaving for ceremony

Ceremony – arrival at least 15 minutes before the bride, then usually 30 mins for the ceremony.

Congratulations and Group shots – 30 mins

Bridal photos – 1-2 hours.  If you have more time between your ceremony and reception because of a church booking, a great idea is to book a table at a quiet café or bar to chill with your bridal party.

Start of Reception – 30mins – 1 hour.

You might only want 30 minutes for location photos, that is not a problem.  Your ceremony might be only 30 minutes before the reception starts so you want to have photos before the ceremony, also fine.  The best idea is to think about what you want covered, then we can discuss a plan that works for you and your wedding day.

Do I get my images on a disc?  Your wedding images are delivered on disc and included as part of the cost of the wedding package.  All images are high resolution without a watermark and come with a print/share release so you can print and email your favourite images for family and friends.

How long after the wedding do I get to see my photos?  After your wedding, I post a selection of your images onto my blog.  Then I go back and process every image that is going to be delivered.  Because you have the print/share release, I want every image to be a true representation of your day and also a showcase of my photography style, not just the images on the blog or in an album.  This task is a little time consuming, and I try to get every wedding out of my studio and into your hands as quickly as possible.  For off season, it is usually 4-6 weeks, in the peak season, around 6-8 weeks after your wedding.

What equipment do you use? Do you have a back-up?  I shoot with Canon digital cameras and I usually have 2 cameras swinging from my shoulders with different lenses attached at certain times at a wedding.  I also have a back up camera just in case as well.  I have always been an over packer and this applies to wedding photography as well.  I also have a backup of my workhorse lens, the 24-70.  I love this lens so now I have two, just in case (and it is also handy for the photobooth!).

Do you travel for weddings?  Yup!  I have photographed weddings in Margaret River Region, Victoria, Indonesia, Fiji and Greece!  I do charge travel costs so email or ring me to discuss your destination wedding further.

Do you work with an assistant?   Only if you book a second photographer.  My style is unobtrusive so I do not want to be turning up to a wedding with a crew of people to get in the way.  I can carry my own bags (well I have a wheelie case) and I don't treat weddings like fashion photoshoots, so I do not have a whole bunch of lights or reflectors...

Do you do table shots at the reception?   Not really as it is a little too intrusive when everyone is relaxing at the reception.  I will take photos of anyone that approaches me and asks for a couple or group shot but during the reception I try to capture individual people as they laugh, chat and enjoy the evening. If you do want big group shots, I suggest you dedicate a special corner or space to those photos.  Or consider hiring the Photobooth for some group photos that you will really remember!

We would love to book you for our wedding.  What's the next step?  Great!  First, check my pricing page and calendar to make sure your date is still available.  Fill in the enquiry form here and arrange a meeting or confirm you would like to book.

To book I ask for a $750 non-refundable deposit to secure your date, an online booking form to be filled out and a contract to be signed, then I am yours for your wedding day!

Do you photograph anything other than weddings and couples?  I am primarily a wedding photographer, but I do take a limited number of portrait sessions throughout the year.  Email me for more information.
