Mahoney + Matthew: E Session

Looking back on this e-session a couple of weeks ago, I cannot believe how sunny and warm it was on the first day of August.  Another photo session in my favourite place for an e-session, the area around High Street, Fremantle.  We did the usual, Round House and the Cliff St wall (right near the Roma restaurant where I had my first waitressing job over 10 years ago now… I have to say I wasn’t a very successful waitress to be honest.  Hot, sloppy pasta dishes and clumsy waitresses don’t mix).  But I also located a brilliant blank wall painted with white and silver stripes at a carpark which I may or may not be able to find again.  Fremantle is like that, hidden spots all over the place and every time I shoot there I find something new!

I will be heading back to shoot Mahoney & Matthew in Fremantle for their wedding in October and I cannot wait.  I also want to see Mahoney’s shoes!  I was in awe of how she walked in her stilettos through Fremantle and want to see what footwear adorn her feet on the day!  Just because I wear flats for 99% of my life doesn’t mean I don’t drool over an amazing pair of high heels :)

Kirsty & George: E Session

So in my last blog post I may have mentioned I am heading to Greece in June to shoot a wedding.  Well it is Kirsty & George’s wedding so I met them and Kirsty’s two boys at the beach on Sunday morning.  Thinking that the weather has been pretty overcast for the last few weeks, I wasn’t quite prepared for the shock of full sun and warm temperatures but we managed to get some photos on the beach, find some shade and popped to Point Walter for the last part for some family shots under the shady trees.

I realise that Greece is going to be very sunny in June but Kirsty & George have planned their wedding times so well!  The ceremony starts at 5pm at the Church and we can have some shots on the beach are in the square in front of the church till 8pm when the reception starts.  I wasn’t tempted to ask what time the reception is going to end but I am glad I didn’t arrange to go to Santorini till the Tuesday after the wedding because I have seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I know how the Greeks love a party so I may need more than a day to recover!!!!  I have also watched My Life in Ruins too for research purposes and any other suggestions for ‘research’ movies or books (fiction of course) to watch before the big trip would be greatly appreciated!

Sarah & Damian: Perth Engagement Photography

I met Sarah & Damian in Fremantle for their E Session.  Have I mentioned how much I love Fremantle for wedding and engagement shoots?  Anyway we hit the round house, Cliff street and the E Shed markets for photos.  Even after 20 odd years growing up in Fremantle, I still managed to find a new little nook on that I hadn’t noticed before that was perfect for a few portraits (the little archway with the funky tiles).

Sarah & Damian were a little nervous about the photos, but were so easy going and I think I managed to capture their fun personalities.  They were laughing and cuddling for the whole hour session!

Click on the slideshow to start it, but be patient while it organises itself!

I cannot wait for Sarah & Damian’s wedding, which is at their home in a semi-rural part of Perth (does that even make sense?).  But when I was driving to their home (and got a little lost) I found a windmill and tall grasses that would be perfect for bridal portraits :)

A few of my favourites can be seen here if you have slower internet browsers (or have used up all your internet for the month which happens at my house A LOT…)

*Note on the music used (it was supposed to come up on the slideshow but I can’t see it).  The beautiful song is Amy Seeley’s Gravel Lines.  You are able to purchase this on iTunes if you love it as much as I do!

Melissa & Mattie: E-Session

I learnt a big lesson at this pre-wedding photoshoot…  If the temperature in Perth is over 40 degrees C, do NOT head to a dog beach after 5pm for a photoshoot.  Every person and his or her dog were at Whitfords Dog Beach on this Sunday afternoon when I met Melissa, Mattie and their 2 babies (didn’t you know, dogs are people too).

One of the reasons for having a pre-wedding shoot is to get all those nerves out the way when in front of the camera.  When there is a-gazillion people staring at you wandering why you are having photos on the beach, there is no way the nerves are going to subside and even I was self conscious with all those people around.

Anyway… Melissa and Mattie are getting married at the end of March on the beach down south and I am looking forward to it!  Especially since Melissa sent me some photos of the beach this week and it looks stunning!  Unfortunately their 2 little Jack Russells will not be attending the wedding so here are some shots of them (and Melissa and Mattie) at the beach.
