Silvia, Chris & Jonathan: Family Photography

I met Silvia, Chris, Jonathan and their dog Charlie (who is a bundle of energy) at Bicton Baths on a Sunday morning at 8am!  Ahhh the life of a photographer.  Silvia & Chris had their wedding photos taken here so thought it would be nice to have some family portraits here, now they have moved on to a new phase in their married life, I think the phase that means that 8am is an acceptable time to get out of the house.  I am not quite there yet and was very glad to be behind the camera rather than in front of it - a feeling I get quite often to be honest!

Bicton Baths is such a beautiful location and the morning was truly stunning and suited this gorgeous family.  And I think Jonathan is the first child I have completed a family portrait session with that didn’t cry, yell ‘no’ at me, run away from me or generally hate me.  YES!!!  I love taking family portraits but it is hard when the little, cute ones in the family take an instant dislike to you…  But Jonathan had a really curious nature and was looking at the camera and even crawling towards me!

Melissa & Mattie: E-Session

I learnt a big lesson at this pre-wedding photoshoot…  If the temperature in Perth is over 40 degrees C, do NOT head to a dog beach after 5pm for a photoshoot.  Every person and his or her dog were at Whitfords Dog Beach on this Sunday afternoon when I met Melissa, Mattie and their 2 babies (didn’t you know, dogs are people too).

One of the reasons for having a pre-wedding shoot is to get all those nerves out the way when in front of the camera.  When there is a-gazillion people staring at you wandering why you are having photos on the beach, there is no way the nerves are going to subside and even I was self conscious with all those people around.

Anyway… Melissa and Mattie are getting married at the end of March on the beach down south and I am looking forward to it!  Especially since Melissa sent me some photos of the beach this week and it looks stunning!  Unfortunately their 2 little Jack Russells will not be attending the wedding so here are some shots of them (and Melissa and Mattie) at the beach.

Meg & Tim: Maternity Photography

Meg and I used to sit next to each other at work and I can honestly say that both of us have a gift of the gab. Honestly I don’t know how we managed to get so much ahem… any work done, but I think we must both be great multitaskers!  So I could write a very, very long post about Meg & Tim but I will try not to… Meg is from Boston so these images are for all the family and friends back there who are missing Meg and seeing her baby bump (Smudge).

When Meg asked me to take her maternity photos (read - I didn’t give her a choice, she was GOING to have a maternity shoot!), I straight away had visions of a very down-to-earth maternity session that suited them and the dog beach by the South Fremantle Power Station allowed them to include their first ‘baby’ Fordie too (that is the dog in the photos just incase you were wondering).

Fordie looking very cute (Meg emailed me asking if there were any cute ones of Fordie)

The Dempsters: Family Photography

Kristen contacted me for a family portrait session at the end of last year. She had seen my blog post of Kat & Andrew in Fremantle and wanted some shots of her family in the same location. I love Freo and it is such an amazing photographic location. I met Kristen & Nick and their kids at the Cliff Street wall and we had a few shots on the wall before the rest of the family turned up.

Suddenly there was 10 Dempsters spanning three generations all joking around with each other. We headed to the roundhouse for a few whole family shots then, as it was a hot day, down to the little beach by the roundhouse to finish off the session. Eventually the kids got sick of photos and headed to the water to cool off while the sun sank into the ocean.

Kat & Andrew: Pre-Wedding Shoot

I am so excited to be posting these shots.  It was so much fun walking around Fremantle finding little spots for portraits and these two didn’t stop talking or laughing!  I can tell that I am going to have a great time shooting their wedding in a couple of weeks.

Baby William

William Peter was born on July 3rd, 2009.  So very cute, but the first evening when I took some photos of him at 10 days old, he didn’t wake up as he was moved into different poses!  So I had a second shoot with William during the day and the amount he has grown in such a short time was really noticeable when Kate & Ben went through the photos!
