Kate & I have been friends forever. I lost my first tooth in her swimming pool at her 6th birthday party. In high school we used to spend all day in classes together, catching the bus home together to Freo then ring each other when we got home to chat for another couple of hours. I am not sure what we had to talk about after a whole day of school together, and sometimes would just sing out favourite songs at the time, Violent Femmes or REM or some other song playing on JJJ.
So we have grown up, went to different Universities, but ended up in London within 6 months of each other and stayed for five years and left within 6 months of each other to return to Perth. Kate gets married in a few months and I get to sign the register (official duties that don’t involve a camera!!!) and I am so excited for the wedding day and also the awesome hens night we are planning which may involve high tea, cocktails, icecream and a slumber party!
I popped over yesterday to her house to take photos of little William now he is 6 months and I got a little carried away capturing the little details in her house. Kate was always the more stylish of the two of us and instead of feeling like her friend I sometimes felt like the awkward little sister when we were out at parties or ‘hanging’ in Freo. Her classic sense of style has infiltrated her weatherboard cottage and I couldn’t help myself in capturing and sharing these images.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

So I haven’t posted anything this week. I am still playing with my favourite images from Tina & Peter’s wedding so hopefully finished for the blog tomorrow.
But today I again rode to and from work. A funny morning with the first sign of rain here for over 2 months which was nice to keep me cool. I don’t ride very fast, and I spend more time taking in the view than concentrating on the path (I am slow so most people are passing me anyway) and for today’s photo of the day I took this image of the jetty at South Perth.

Right. Back to work and back to wedding photos for the blog tomorrow! But no riding for me tomorrow, ouch…

I wanted a quiet Australia Day and Dale was busy helping set up the Core slider jam (some kitesurfing competition that needs to build big structures sticking out of the water, pictures to come next week if I can brave going down and watching Dale compete…).
In the afternoon there was the obligatory BBQ in the backyard (with 3 attendees, me, Dale and a very happy Lolabear) listening to the end of the JJJ hottest 100 countdown. After deciding to head down to the river we hopped on the bikes and rode for a few minutes to get to the Mount Pleasant foreshore where we managed to nab a great spot to view the fireworks. Of course I had my camera with me but only a 24-70mm lens.
Here are some of the shots I caught of the 30 minute Perth Sky Show. All taken at ISO 6400(5D MII yup I can push it up that far!) with a shutter speed of around 1/200 of a second. It was my first attempt at fireworks so not a masterpiece but these images made me happy! Have a great weekend!!!

By the way I am blogging this from a wedding down south!!! Not really, I discovered that I can SCHEDULE my blog posts, so while I am photographing my little heart out (and scrunching up my face behind the camera which I discovered last week - photo here), I can be really organised and pre-post a few images… this could mean I will become really organised with my blog posting schedule, or um maybe not, but it is good to know I could… if I wanted to.

Last Sunday I hosted my fabulous friend Meg’s Babyshower. All I really had to do was clean my house up (a bit of a mission on a Sunday morning though) and wait for 3 other friends who did pretty much all of the organising. My favourite kind of hosting I have to say!
They brought around Meg’s favorite food from her pregnancy - icecream! AND all of these amazing American (Meg is a proud Bostonite) candies including Reece’s pieces and Reece’s cups, Boston beans (a homage to Meg’s home town’s contribution to the world - baked beans!), oreos and also some Aussie sweets plus yummy homemade toppings and of course ICECREAM. A sugar fix was had by all and I felt rather ill after my super-dooper sunday with caramel topping. Here are a couple of shots of the icecream bar that I took before I fell into a sugar coma…
