I met Rosie & Steve in Brentwood by the Swan River foreshore on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago. Rosie & Steve are getting married next weekend at Darlington Estate and wanted pre-wedding photo session before the wedding. I ride past here quite often and have always thought it would be nice for a little photo session. We started at the jetty then went up the Mount Henry Bridge bike path for that view of Perth, then onto a little beach for a few more shots.

I love the leading lines in this image:

I learnt a big lesson at this pre-wedding photoshoot… If the temperature in Perth is over 40 degrees C, do NOT head to a dog beach after 5pm for a photoshoot. Every person and his or her dog were at Whitfords Dog Beach on this Sunday afternoon when I met Melissa, Mattie and their 2 babies (didn’t you know, dogs are people too).
One of the reasons for having a pre-wedding shoot is to get all those nerves out the way when in front of the camera. When there is a-gazillion people staring at you wandering why you are having photos on the beach, there is no way the nerves are going to subside and even I was self conscious with all those people around.
Anyway… Melissa and Mattie are getting married at the end of March on the beach down south and I am looking forward to it! Especially since Melissa sent me some photos of the beach this week and it looks stunning! Unfortunately their 2 little Jack Russells will not be attending the wedding so here are some shots of them (and Melissa and Mattie) at the beach.

So I get asked often about why I do a Pre-Wedding or Engagement session before a wedding with a couple. There are a couple of reasons, but mainly it is because, surprisingly, most people are not very comfortable having a camera pointed on them. It helps couples get more comfortable in front of the camera and it is also useful for a couple to get used to my photography style. Most importantly, the couple gets some nice images of them NOT in wedding clothes! The images are given to the couple before the wedding so they can be used if they would like at the reception or for the order of service as well.
Tina & Peter are getting married at Joondalup Resort in two weeks so I met Tina & Peter at the Victoria Gardens in East Perth for a family twist on an E session a couple of weeks ago. They had lived here for a few months a couple of years ago and it is a great place to get a variety of different shots in a small area. The day was pretty hot and PJ was a little worn out I think after a big day with the wedding rehearsal and then having to be in front of the camera!

The kids having a bit of a giggle!

Ok so there were a couple of shots of PJ looking a little happier!!!

I met Michelle & Joe on Sunday at Kings Park for their pre-wedding photo shoot. Luckily it stopped raining for the session but it was still very cold at 10.30am. They were such good sports about trekking around Kings Park in the cold, and I think that it was worth it - it was very hard to pick what photos to post!
