Emily & Steve Pre-Wedding Shoot

Wow!  2 posts in as many days (this is what happens when Dale goes down south with the boys…)

Last weekend I meet with Emily and Steve to go through the plans for their wedding in 2 weeks!  We walked around the Blue Water Grill where they are having their ceremony and reception to have a look at photo-sites.  It wasn’t the nicest of days but it cleared up for the stroll along the Swan River and here are some shots from the morning:

Perth city in the background is one of the reasons why this spot is so popular for weddings!

Emily & Steve are off on a Thailand honeymoon after the wedding so this is my ode to a honeymoon in a tropical paradise.

I also love Emily’s pose in the photo on the left!  She looks really confident and sassy!

SPRING!!!

Ok, technically spring SHOULD have arrived 25 days ago, but for some reason Perth has had some crazy rain and today really has been the first day that has felt like spring has really sprung.

So to celebrate, my list of the 10 best things about spring:

1. Warmer days with the temperature finally over 25 degrees (still waiting for this-going for a swim this morning in 6 degrees was NOT a smart move)

2. Taking Lola-bear for a walk after 5pm in the sunlight

3. Wearing jeans and a t-shirt

4. Being able to bare my feet and wear thongs! (insert flip-flops or jandels depending on your nationality)

5. BBQs!  (going to one on Saturday to start the season - YAY)

6. Eating lots of salads - for some reason I just feel weird making a salad in the winter

7. Flowers, flowers everywhere (although the hayfever I could live without)

8. Spending an afternoon lying in a hammock in the backyard reading

9. Growing vegetables in the backyard (and eating the snowpeas and cherry tomatoes as soon as they are picked!)

and most importantly:

10. THE WEDDING SEASON STARTS!

On Sunday I have my first wedding for the season and it is going to be a perfect 25 degrees!  I can not wait!!!

Natalina & Leon Pre-Wedding Shoot

I love Kings Park for pre-wedding shoots!  There are so many places to go and of course there is the pine forest - a favourite for all Perth wedding photographers I believe!

Here are some images Sunday’s shoot with Natalina & Leon before their wedding in January.  Perth’s crazy wet weather unfortunately didn’t hold back and we discovered the fig trees in Kings Park are not the best for sheltering under.

I am sad to say that my favourite pair of black slip-ons which have served me well for many shoots and weddings, allowing me to climb on and over many obstacles did not survive the downpour but have been rapidly replaces by a funky pair with sparkly bits :)

Refreshed and Ready for the Start of Wedding Season ‘09/’10

Got back from China last week and spent this weekend at a photoshop course for fine art photography that award-winning Fremantle photographer Nick Melidonis to refresh on some photoshop skills and learn a lot of great techniques that I hope to use in my wedding and portrait images over the next season.

I have come back from China with over 1000 images to play with before the season really gets underway and tonight, inspired after the course, I have used a few of these techniques on an image of bicycles parked in front of the forbidden city, Beijing.  Enjoy!
